Shrek The Musical

Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Steel Magnolias

The action is set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle, the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser; an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby, is about to marry a "good ole boy." Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions.

Tragedy strikes and the sudden realization of their mortality affects them all, but also draws on the underlying strength-and love-which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.

If you thought you knew the story of 'The Princess and The Pea,' you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that Lady Larken's love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste? Or that, in fact, it wasn't the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night?

Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.

Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

Seating Information

"What kind of seat should I get?"
For a reserved seating show, The Orpheum Theatre has four varieties of seats: Balcony, Orchestra, Mezzanine, and Box.

Balcony Seating: Our most inexpensive seat available. Seats here don't have as much arm or leg room as the seats elsewhere, and are further away from the stage. This section is intended to be overflow seating for the other sections. These seats are accessible only by stairs.

Orchestra Seating: Our most plentiful variety of seat. Positioned on the ground floor with cup holders for your drinks. Seats are roomy with good stage viewing from any location.

Mezzanine Seating: Premium seating at the very edge of the balcony level. Overlooking the stage with the best head-on viewing location. Seats are roomy with cup holders. This is our most popular seating variety. These seats are accessible only by stairs.

Box Seating: Our most comfortable, and spendy, seating variety - but perfect for a date night. A Box contains two seats you can move at your leisure and a small table for your concessions items. Additionally, The Orpheum Theatre concessions staff will check in on you, run a tab for your concessions, and then deliver them to you. These seats are accessible only by stairs.
